2018 Melbourne Observership Program

The Observership Program places talented, young professionals aged 25-40 on not-for-profit boards for a period of 12 months as Observers. It is a powerful tool to engage emerging community leaders while giving participating not-for-profit boards insight into the next generation’s perspective and the opportunity to engage new people in the work of their organisations. To date, over 220 Observers have participated in the Program, observing on the boards of over 120 not-for-profit organisations. Melbourne launched its first Program in November 2016.

Organisations are paired with Observers who have been selected and carefully matched for the 12-month period. During that time, organisations allow Observers to attend all board and/or subcommittee meetings as non-voting members so they can both contribute and learn about fundamental principles and functions of not-for-profit boards, the role of board members, the decision-making process and governance priorities. MAV is participating in the 2018 Observership Program and The MAV observer will be Aaon Tan.
