Yeni Kuti, Fela Kuti’s daughter, is a legendary dancer, choreographer who will be travelling from Nigeria to perform in the PBS Beasts of No Nation concert. This concert will be a tribute to Fela Kuti the originator of the Afrobeat tradition in collaboration with Multicultural Arts Victoria (MAV) on September 8th in Melbourne.

The event, presented by Stani Goma of PBS show Flight 1067 to Africa, will see The Public Opinion Afro Orchestra joined on stage by an amazing line up of Australian Indigenous guest vocalists including Lois Olney, Bunna Lawrie, Philly, Racerage, Robbie Thorpe and Bart Willoughby, as well as Olugbade Okunade, ex-member of Fela’s band, who will be onstage performing all of Fela’s parts and Fela’s daughter, Yeni Kuti.

The Public Opinion Afro Orchestra come together with Australian Indigenous voices to explore Fela’s message of freedom, and how it intersects with the continuing struggle for indigenous rights here in Australia.
