Transforming spaces with a series of free multi-art form events and exhibitions the festival will profile established and emerging artists from across China, Indonesia, Singapore, Australia, India, Thailand, Japan, Vietnam and Malaysia.
CIRCLE OF FUNK
Saturday 17 December, 7.30pm-11pm
The Toff in Town, 252 Swanston St, Melbourne
To celebrate the final day of Mapping Melbourne, we’re teaming up with the Circle of Funk and Melbourne’s most eclectic rhythm section, The CoreTet for a dance cipher inspired by the eras of the jazz, funk and hip hop culture. Circle of Funk draws inspiration from the legacy of the Jazz and Funk era which has evolved to become hip hop culture as we know it today. Uniting our local music scene and the growing street dance community through party events highlighting talented musicians and giving dancers a stage to shine. The CoreTet is the latest offering from the innovative community-based collective, The Foreign Brothers and they’ll be performing two live sets with special guest vocalists and supports from DJ Tofu and multi-instrumentalist Silent Jay. Join us go the After Party at Horse Bazaar from 11.00pm until late with guest DJ’s.
Spokespeople: Andre Widjaja (Melbourne based) Joel Ma (Melbourne based)
