Cookin’ Up Community #2 is a night of food demonstrations, entertainment and storytelling. Come and enjoy tales spanning generations and crossing cultures with Afghanistan born Nuclear Physicist and Biophysicist, Dr Nouria Salehi, Chef and visual artist, Ameet Sandhu and musician, Sarah Mandie.

The cooking demonstrations will include traditional Indian inspired food like chapati, dhal, masala chai and more; and Sarah will entertain the guests with her beautiful music using a range of musical instruments.

Food and stories bring people together. Join us on 26 July at 6 – 8.30 PM at Fitzroy Community Kitchen in our popular cooking demo and storytelling event.

Nouria is a Nuclear Physicist and Biophysicist born in Afghanistan. She completed her post-graduate studies and worked in France before moving to Australia in 1981. She works with Afghan migrants helping them adapt to their new country and a new life through educational opportunities.

Ameet is a chef and visual artist of Punjabi descent born in Malaysia and trained in culinary arts in Aotearoa. He is constantly developing his style to incorporate important aspects of eating well, nutrition and nourishment while learning about food from different cultures of the world.

Sarah Mandie is a Melbourne based singer songwriter and the mother of two young girls. These two highly personal and defining elements of her life are brought into sharp focus though her new project, That Girl, and it is from her clear belief in the potential of each and her passion for both.
