Multicultural Arts Victoria’s Emerge Cultural Leadership Program is establishing in the outer northern suburbs of Melbourne, in partnership with the Brotherhood of St Laurence. It is an important part of the Emerge Cultural Hub which began in this area with the Emerge in the North Festival in 2017. The Cultural Leadership program aims to support cultural practitioners from Indigenous & emerging culturally diverse communities to empower them to have a strong and effective voice through the arts; to build expertise and capacity of local governments and cultural organisations to embed cultural diversity and inclusion in local arts and community programs; to foster and support new opportunities that best leverage the diverse cultural and social assets of communities.
Multicultural Arts Victoria (MAV) and the Brotherhood of St Laurence invite you to join in the first Emerge Cultural Network Gathering for artists and community members from Indigenous and newly arrived culturally diverse backgrounds in Epping and surrounding areas.
- Meet other artists and community leaders from your neighbourhood;
- Discuss the barriers to cultural expression and participation in the arts for culturally and linguistically diverse artists and communities;
- What can we do to increase cultural and artistic opportunities for refugee and emerging culturally diverse artists and communities in the area?
Refreshments will be provided.
