The Fairfield Summer Series is back for 2016 with a new line-up of some of Melbourne’s hottest and emerging acts every Sunday in February, 5pm-7.30pm FREE at the Fairfield Amphitheatre. Presented in partnership with the City of Yarra, the 2016 edition brings beats from around the globe spanning groove to modern soul. Bring along a picnic rug or cushion and enjoy delicious food available on site all afternoon. Ride a bike, walk the Main Yarra Trail or catch a train – the Fairfield Amphitheatre is a 5 minute walk from Fairfield Station and just 16 mins by train from Melbourne’s CBD. #MAVfairfield
This Sunday! Sunday 14 February, 5pm-7.30pm Love is in the Air What could be more romantic than the dulcet tones of Kenyan funk-soul singer and songwriter Louis Majiwa with his band? A salsa class by Loco Mojo Dance and a set by the French gypsy swing virtuosos La Mauvaise Réputation (pictured) serenading you on the banks of the Yarra makes for a pretty great Valentine’s day.
Sunday 21 February , 5pm-7.30pm Heatwave Triple R 102.7FM Get Down presenter Chris Gill will be hosting a party at the Amphitheatre on the 21st of February. Melbourne’s favourite three-piece Cookin’ On 3 Burners join the dots between Deep Funk, Raw Soul, Organ Jazz and Boogaloo. Sapphire Dance will you give you an introduction to Bollywood dance and Melbourne favourites Emma Donovan & The PutBacks (pictured) will be performing hard-hitting and heartfelt soul songs.
Sunday 28 February, 5pm-7.30pm Come Together Come Together celebrates the power and versatility of vocal harmony across a range of genres. MC and performer extraordinaire Neda Rahmani will guide you through an interactive evening including performances by 1930’s party band The Furbelows and family Island reggae outfit T-Rhythm (pictured).
