Multicultural Arts Victoria (MAV) and Melbourne Jewish Comedy Festival (MJCF) present Funny In Any Language, a showcase of new, emerging and extremely funny comedians for one night only.
This smorgasbord of multi ethnic and multicultural comedians will be MC’d by Kevin Kropinyeri. The showcase will feature new and established comedians including Annie Louey who has been mentored by Tessa Waters, up and coming comedian Urvi Majumdar and physical comedian David Splatt.
MAV and MJCF have collaborated on Funny in Any Language to celebrate of diverse comedic voices and to encourage new voices in comedy. In the run up to the show, aspiring comedians will take part in comedy workshops delivered by MJCF creative director, Justine Sless, participants will be ‘match fit’ to do five minutes of stand-up comedy during Funny in any Language. Guest comedian, Michael Shafar (script writer for The Project), will impart his comedic pearls of wisdom during the workshops.
So, what happens when an Aboriginal, a Jew, a Zimbabwean, a Chinese, an Indian, a Somali and a Vietnamese walk into a bar? Find out in Funny in Any Language – one night only on 27 September.
