Ms Millie’s showcases spoken creativity via storytelling, song and poetry. The night will feature lyrical spoken word artist, Kyah, supported by the acclaimed contortionist, Soliana, and an open mic session. You can also enjoy sweet treats baked by your host, Ms Millie.
Ms Millie’s is the brain child of Jay Larkin after she greedily wanted to enjoy two of her favourite things in one night, poetry and sweets. With a variety of vegan and non-vegan sweets that are variations of her grandmother’s family recipes and personal collection, the pop up café will not only feed your soul but your belly as well. Apart from baking up a variety of sweets and organising monthly gatherings, Jay Larkin also performs poetry centred on her passion for feminism and cultural identity. Jay’s poems are like pages from her diary.
Kyah Parrott is a lyrical poet and digital storyteller. She is inspired by words and her work is largely introspective. Backed by a strong mindfulness practice, Kyah interweaves consciousness throughout her work.
Soliana Ersie is a professional circus artist who uses circus discipline as a way of expression. With her speciality in contortion and hand balancing she also practices tumbling. Born in Ethiopia, she started doing contortion at the age of 10. Soliana arrived in Australia in 2013 and joined a circus tour for 2 years with Cirque Africa around Australia. Besides bending her body to the max, Soliana is currently studying a certificate 4 in Business at Victoria University. She has been embraced by the artistic community and is excited to share her love of circus art with the wider.
