Successful integration of newly arrived people from diverse cultural communities is critical to ensuring harmony and a mutually respectful cohesive society. Australia’s immigrant and refugee communities include incredible artistic talent – people from rich cultural backgrounds with much to offer our landscape, their new homeland. We are focussed on helping overcome the significant barriers that inhibit their participation in our community.

What is your cultural narrative?

Multicultural Arts Victoria (MAV) is a dedicated to the discovery, development and promotion of culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) contemporary art, heritage and cultural expression.

Perspective of Ideas is an exhibition of works by Sutueal Bekele and Magupela.

Two African artists who have travelled and lived outside their birth place for a long time trying to find balance; two artists whose themes expand from different perspectives. One, a somewhat abstract/realist mixture, revolves around African themes through the life experience he had living outside his home town for a long time. The other, combining both realist and traditional Ethiopian art, in observation of human sentiments that reflects hope, unity and spirituality.
